What the study actually did
Researchers at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University in Turkey studied 26 psoriasis patients undergoing major autohemotherapy (MAH ozone), comparing their disease severity and inflammatory blood markers before and after treatment, against 19 healthy control subjects for baseline reference. Disease severity was measured using PASI — the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index, the standard clinical scale dermatologists use to track how psoriasis responds to any treatment.
After MAH, PASI scores dropped significantly.
Several inflammatory blood markers — including CRP (a general marker of inflammation) and Siglec-14 (linked to immune cell signalling) — decreased too, both in patients with mild psoriasis and in those with moderate-to-severe disease.
What kind of evidence this is — and isn't
This is a real, peer-reviewed, MAH-specific human study — a strong starting point. It's worth being precise about its shape, though: it measured patients before and after treatment, rather than comparing MAH against a placebo or sham treatment. That means it shows a genuine, measured change — it doesn't yet rule out other explanations for that change the way a placebo-controlled trial would. It's also a single study, with 26 patients — encouraging, but not yet replicated elsewhere.
Put simply: this is a real result worth taking seriously, not proof in the fullest clinical sense. That distinction matters, and we'd rather you have it than not.
